The program at Explore More includes animals in home (2 dogs, 4 cats & a Bearded Dragon). Every reasonable precaution is taken to protect children and animals from harm and any hazard likely to cause injury. We aim to provide a safe and hygienic environment that minimizes the risk of a child being harmed by an animal. Children will be closely supervised when accessing any animal at daycare.

The provider educates children in the proper care and treatment of animals. We instruct children on safe procedures to follow when in close proximity to animals – for example, not to startle animals or touch them when they are near their food or in their kennels.

Animals will be properly cared for (clean water, food, immunizations, checked for fleas, ticks and worms). Children and adults will wash their hands after they have handled an animal.

The provider has worked with the animals present in the daycare and the provider also has three children, so the animals are well accustomed and around children often. Our dogs each have a kennel in which they will be placed if they causes any issues with the children. Our cats are very low interaction and typically hide from the children, but they do have their own room they are able to go in if they become an issue.
