Mission Statement
The mission of Explore More Daycare is to provide quality childcare and learning experiences for children in a safe and caring environment, helping them develop socially, creatively, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
We take pride in our highly qualified teachers and in our communications throughout the center. We strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can express their individuality, while we provide them with a variety of experiences and enhance their development. Explore More takes pride in its reputation and strives to uphold and promote values and principles, which encompass fairness and honesty.
Goal Statement
It is our number one goal to provide the kind of environment and influences that encourage all children to become creative, independent, responsible, well rounded, self-directed adults who can make decisions for themselves. Our desire is for excellence in meeting the needs of children and their families for nurturing, growth and development, relationships and understanding.
Our Philosophy:
Your child’s comforts and needs are always first priority. The care at Explore More Daycare is personal and individualized to enhance your child’s growth and sense of well-being. We are committed to creating a safe, warm, loving environment for children where they can learn and grow physically, emotionally, creatively, intellectually, and socially at their own pace. They are free to explore and learn from their environment and those around them. Family childcare is unique and beneficial in helping children learn and build positive, lasting, and trusting relationships. We strive to make your child’s time at daycare the best experience it can be for them as well as you, the parents/guardians.
The staff at Explore More are dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential. We use developmental tools such as Supporting Maines’ Infant/Toddler Learning Guidelines, State of Maine Early Learning Development Standards (MELDS), and the Common Core Guidelines to support and individualize learning. These tools and other curriculum building strategies are used to assess each child individually. From these findings, we build a unique curriculum based upon the needs and goals of that child and their family. The skills your child will learn and develop here will help them build self-esteem and prepare them for future life skills.
Learning at Explore More Daycare is play-based and as child-directed as possible. Projects done during our days are developed around the interests and skill levels of the children participating. Kindergarten Readiness and Educational Standards (Maine Early Learning and Development Standards and Maine Infant and Toddler Learning Guidelines) are used in lesson planning. Physical activity is part of our play and takes place outside walking, running, biking, climbing, etc. If the weather does not allow for outside play children will have the opportunity to participate in dancing, movement games, and all indoor toys.
In the Mixed Ages Program offered at Explore More Daycare, children will make friends with others of varying ages and interact with children at different developmental levels. Mixed Age programs provide a good variety of different contact patterns and group feelings. Not everyone needs to have a diaper changed at the same time or use the same toy. The stability of the group increases as children are together over multiple years. Continuity of care supports the development of trust and feelings of security for both children and families. Siblings can remain together regardless of age. The older children provide good role models for social and language skills and older children learn responsibility.
It is the goal of Explore More to give your child the opportunity to experience high quality educational care at affordable prices. We value your questions, comments, and input. We are committed to supporting families by maintaining open communication and encourage parent/guardian involvement in our programming and care activities. Our objective is to care for your child the same way you would. We look forward to working with you to provide a secure foundation for your child to ensure successful growth and learning. At the end of each day, there will be time to discuss how the child’s day went and address any needs or concerns, however, I am always willing to set up a more formal/private conversation to discuss any concerns.
